German courses with accommodation

Course participants must make their own accommodation arrangements. The Sprachenatelier offers help in finding accommodation but cannot give any guarantees. Early reservations may be more successful. Hostels are the best accommodation for a short visit (one month or less). We recommend, however, renting a room in an apartment or WG (Wohngemeinschaft: sharing an apart with roommates). Fortunately, housing in Berlin is reasonably priced and vacancy is high.

Hostel

Hotels are identified as a budget accommodation for backpackers and other individual travellers who aren't looking for luxury but a low priced stay. In hostels you don't book a room but a bed so that it can transpire that you have to sleep in a room with ten people.
The Sprachenatelier cooperates with the following hostels, all of which are conveniently located near the school:

Pegasus Hostel Berlin
Odyssee Globetrotter Hostel
The Sunflower Hostel
Located in walking distance to Sprachenatelier, Sunflower Hostel offers the perfect and laidback home with loads of cafes, bars, cheap eats, vivid clubs of all kinds and cultural happenings in the immediate environment.
All touristic sights can be reached within a matter of minutes and 4 nightlife you can't do better than to stay in the neighbourhood!
We offer: towels & lockers, late breakfast til noon, library,TV and fussball!!

Student shared flat

Do you want to take a German language course and are still looking for appropriate accommodation? The best option, also a good way to meet nice people, is to live in a shared flat (Wohngemeinschaft - WG for short). These can be made up of 2 but also of 20 people. Whether its sharing breakfast, cooking, partying or simply in order to live more cheaply, there are many opportunities to live in a shared flat for the long or short term.
Berlin also has an array of city magazines and daily newspaper which list room and apartment rentals. The current monthly price for a room in a shared apartment ranges from 200 to 400 Euros.
On the Internet you can find "WGs auf Zeit" on the following pages:

Student halls of residence

A quieter alternative to a shared flat is living in student halls of residence. These are not as expensive as your own flat and you can decide if you would like to live in a (furnished) room by yourself or shared with other occupants. Living in student halls of residence is also very suitable for people who are only in Germany for a short time, for example for an internship or language course.

Host family

Accommodation in a host family is taken, particulary by students from abroad who come to Germany for a language course or for a school exchange year. Here you can kill many birds with one stone. Most of the time you get your own comfortable room, a nice family who are caring and look after you and bring your country and people to mind. The fridge is always full and homesickness does not occur under these conditions.
